Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Svadhisthana or sacral chakra is translated from the ancient language of Sanskrit as “one’s own abode”. It is associated with sexuality, and a variety of pleasures of life. Also, the second chakra is the center of sensual addiction to material comfort, tasty food and drinks.

The color associated with the sacral chakra is orange.

The image is a circle with 6 orange petals. Each petal has the letter of Sanskrit on it, which symbolizes the negative quality inherent in the chakra:

  • arrogance;
  • false knowledge;
  • delusion;
  • cruelty;
  • suspicion;
  • gullibility.

Svadhisthana petals symbolize creative, sexual energy. In the circle there is a crescent, symbolizing the element of Water. The moon means growth and rebirth, its energy affects the ebb and flow, rain and flooding; therefore, it is also associated with our emotions.

Svadhisthana location and its meaning

Swadhisthana chakra is located between the pubic bone and the navel. It is about 3-4 cm below the navel.

It is a chakra of pleasure. Its philosophy is to give and accept life as it is, flexible and fluid. Orange color warms the soul, causes a joyful smile, and offers to enjoy everything in our amazing world – both material and spiritual.

What sacral chakra is responsible for?

  • sexuality and the power of sexual attraction;
  • resilience and ability to enjoy life;
  • inner strength and self-confidence;
  • all human emotions and sensual pleasures;
  • creativity.

Internal organs under the auspices of the sacral chakra:

  • liver and gallbladder;
  • kidneys and bladder;
  • reproductive organs;
  • all body fluids.

Svadhistana is also responsible for the sense of taste, digestion, and protection of our body. A sexual chakra craves for pleasure. We want to feel beautiful and attractive. We need oceans of emotions, sensations, and feelings.

How healthy chakra works

First of all, the second chakra is very closely connected to muladhara. If the person’s first chakra functions correctly, then svadhisthana automatically becomes strong and balanced. This is evidenced by a sense of creativity and controlled passion.

Sexual life becomes balanced, without satiety and lust. With a fully developed second chakra, a person lives a full life in constant joy and feels complete harmony with the world around him. Such components as self-sufficiency and interpersonal skills, full acceptance of life and gratitude, and not only for good things, are an integral part of it.

All material benefits become available to such a person and bring satisfaction and joy, ease of communication, and the thirst to share creative energy.

People who love arts and literature, admire nature and sunrise, whose hearts come alive with the breath of the breeze and the scent of a rose, are owners of a healthy and fully opened sacral chakra.

The search for our individuality begins with the sacral chakra. The center with all concentrated sexual energy is an incentive to all creative endeavors. It absolutely does not matter what is being created: a new life or a beautiful piece of art.

Imbalance in the work of the sacral chakra

The problems of svadhisthana chakra are stagnation and imbalance. The search for pleasure turns into a real pursuit. It becomes really hard to achieve the feeling of pleasure if svadhisthana doesn’t work correctly.

A person can fall into dependence on these pleasures, which manifests itself in jealousy, negative emotions that can destroy the human body with incredible speed.

To balance the work of the sacral chakra, first of all, it is necessary to understand ourselves, perhaps, to change something, to try to get rid of excessive “I”. We must not forget that we have no right to interfere in the lives of other people, and manipulate them.

If we consider the imbalance of the chakra in the relationship with the opposite sex, then promiscuity and the constant need for something that we do not understand ourselves is a sign of an abnormal functioning of svadhisthana.

Lack of self-confidence makes us have innumerable sexual relationships. We can observe it not only in sexual relations, but also in all life situations – often we are not able to understand what, in fact, we really want.

To achieve the thrill of sensations, people may use various doping, such as alcohol, nicotine, drugs or … chocolate, which become substitutes for the true joy of life.

If a person is too serious, has a complete lack of interest in life, if he has pain in the lower abdomen, impotence appears at the young age, and he did not become a creative person – these are symptoms of stagnation of the sacral chakra. Dissatisfaction with one’s appearance and body also refers to the imbalance of Svadhisthana chakra.

Svadhisthana and the physical body

If there is an imbalance of sacral chakra, the following organs will know about it:

  • lymphatic system;
  • abdominal organs;
  • genitourinary system;
  • pelvic organs;
  • kidney and gallbladder.
